Excellent sculptures made by extremely talented artists. All made from compacted sand and water. You can even have a go yourself. I spent the day in there for 4.00 (great value for money) . The sand sculpture festival has a different theme each year. 2018 was the circus. At the end of the festival the sculptures are bulldozed and the area is returned to the beach.
Staff were really friendly and polite a refreshing change to some of the places I've been. The sculptures were absolutely amazing! The little competition for the best sculpture was a nice touch and the kids enjoyed having a voice and it really got them interested and feeling important enough to have an opinion that matter. (Some.kids may not have that in their young life) there is a small container with a video on how the sculptures were made but we couldn't stay in there for long as the temperature in there was breath taking. Over all a great experience for the kids, not massive and probably a little over priced for what you see and the very short time round but certainly worth the money with regards to a different talking point and experience for the kids. Thank you to all involved, especially the staff at the counter
The sculptures themselves were very detailed and intricate. I liked that there was a wooden 'boardwalk' to follow round with designated 'photo op' sections. I went with my husband and two children (8 & 4). While I genuinely appreciate the hard work that went into setting this up, I didn't honestly find it to be good value for the admission cost. Perhaps this is more personal as we are a one-wage family on a budget already, but for the 10 'family' ticket, I was really hoping for more sculptures. It just felt a bit anticlimactic at the end. I also didn't realise there was a theme, so going by the signs and posters outside, the kids were looking for Minions and the like. Circus theme didn't have a connection with them so they just wanted to rush through. We still enjoyed voting on our favourite sculpture and the staff were very friendly and informative.
Wonderful hidden gem. Set on Weston beach, this has over 30 sand sculptures that just take your breath away. Amazing detail in each one, descriptions about each, and their creators, and an opportunity to have a go yourself. My 3 children all had a great time, and it's hard finding things to capture the interests of a 13YO, 10YO, and 3YO at the same time!
This was amazing. Me and my girlfriend saw this walking past and had to go in and see. The staff there were so kind it generally shocked me with how polite they were. The member of staff explained about the sand sculptures and the voting system near the end. We went and the sculptures are absolutely incredible! How people can create such art from something so simple like sand amazes me. I would highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Weston Super-Mare (Sommorset)
